History of the Black Rose II

The Black Rose II is a modified galley class ship. She has three masts and is squared rigged instead of the traditional triangle shaped mast that a galley had. The rigging of the square sails is to make her a fast ship. Will full sails she has a speed of 15 knots.

She has capability of 36 guns, and 36 Oarsman with a total capacity of 150 able body seaman/woman. Making this a highly maneuverable vessel. (She looks like a small Frigate with sweeps)

She was commissioned by King William III in1695 to Captain William Kidd and formally  known as the Adventure Galley.

In a sea battle with the merchant ship Quedagh Merchant, the Adventure Galley was heavily damaged and was left to sink as Captain Kidd claimed the Quedagh Merchant as his new ship.

I was aboard the Quedagh Merchant when Kidd set the crew and passengers overboard. I managed to row to the heavily damaged Adventure Galley.

In surveying the ship for damage, I realized she was still seaworthy and could make it back to port for repairs. I then set out picking up the remaining survivors.

I then claimed her as my own and renamed her the Black Rose II vowing to see Kidd hang.

The Black Rose II is still commissioned under King William III as a privateering vessel.
